Welcome to the Indian River State College’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program! Our trained volunteers are here to help individuals and families with free tax preparation and filing assistance.

Appointments are required at this VITA site. Information on how to schedule an appointment can be found below. Before scheduling your appointment, please review the eligibility guidelines below to see if you qualify for free tax preparation services.

A general list is provided below. An thorough review of your tax situation will be reviewed at your appointment to confirm that you are in scope. We cannot guarantee that a taxpayer will be in scope prior to coming for their appointment.

What You Need to Bring to Your Appointment:

To ensure a smooth and accurate process, please bring the following documents with you to your appointment:

■ Proof of identification (photo ID)
■ Social Security cards (or ITINs) for you, your spouse and dependents
■ Birth dates for you, your spouse and all dependents on the tax return
■ Wage statements (Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, 1099-Misc) from all employers
■ Interest and dividend statements from banks (Forms 1099)
■ Health Insurance Exemption Certificate, if received
■ A copy of last year’s federal and state returns (if available)
■ Proof of bank routing and account numbers for direct deposit such as a blank check
■ Total paid for day care and the day care provider’s tax identifying number (EIN or SSN)
■ Forms 1095-A, B and C, Health Coverage Statements
■ Copies of income transcripts from IRS and state, if applicable
■ Charitable contribution letters from recipients (church or other 501(c)(3) organizations)
■ All other relevant documents for the 2024 tax year
